Onna Stäheli (*1998) is a choral and orchestra conductor with a strong focus on contemporary music theatre and interdisciplinary performance. Her work combines precise musical leadership with a refined sensitivity for space, voice and language, aiming to create multisensory musical experiences through the integration of different art forms.
Her studies took her to Zurich, Lausanne, Oslo and Lugano, and she received formative artistic impulses from conductors including Marc Kissoczy, Robert Treviño, Titus Engel and Grete Pedersen. She has worked with institutions such as Tonhalle Zurich and Zurich Opera House, realized productions at Theater am Gleis and Reitschule Bern, and has been engaged by Münstermusik Konstanz and the Davos Festival.
A central focus of her artistic practice lies in interdisciplinary concert and music theatre formats that connect music with dance, theatre, visual art and sign language. In 2024, she was Artist in Residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
Alongside her conducting work, she is active as a singer with Vokalensemble Otto. She is co-founder and artistic co-director of Raum 236 in Zurich, a space dedicated to chamber music and transdisciplinary collaboration. Onna Stäheli is based in Zurich and regularly works on rehearsals, preparations and conceptual development for choral, ensemble and orchestral projects.
